	If I was the motivational speaker at an e-commerce seminar, I would lose half my crowd after I told everybody this: "You must design, write, and control your own website." If any of my "flock" stuck around after that revelation, I could watch their enthusiasm continue to fade as I told them that learning to use an HTML Editor is essential. Their enthusiasm would go right into the toilet as I told them they must register their own domain name, learn to use a File Transfer Protocol program, and even some HTML code. Anyone that remained with me would learn that only after these steps are accomplished could the really hard work begin! © Copyright 2005 C. Weisbrod

I repeat myself by saying the most important skill for those who want an e-commerce business is the mastery of an HTML Editor. I move quickly to abstract listings of the previous 8 website shows in preparation to adding them to the archive program. I finish up with a mildly hostile email suggesting that most of what I'd been saying was hogwash. My response was a serendipitous gift from a radio ad that happened to be playing at the exact moment I was reading the email.

I discussed parallels between the website and the early 20th century mail-order catalog. I then went all the way back to the first venue, the African Savanna.
