The Detroit Red Wings were in full flight Thursday night. Ryan Suter's power-play goal at 9:04 of the third period broke tie, and the Nashville Predators beat the slumping Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 on Thursday night to snap a five-game losing streak. The NHL-leading Boston Bruins got back to their winning ways -- at the expense of the slumping Ottawa Senators. David Krejci and Marc Savard helped Boston snap a two-game losing streak, scoring 4:16 apart midway through the third period in the Bruins' 6-4 victory over the Senators on Thursday night. "They played hard and desperate and we sat back a bit," Chuck Kobasew said.

Jay Bouwmeester found the perfect way to celebrate an All-Star selection. Hours after being picked as a reserve for the Eastern Conference team, the defenseman broke a tie 31 seconds into the third period to help the Florida Panthers beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 on Thursday night. "Nice way to finish off a pretty good day," Bouwmeester said.
