Extending an Arizona Welcome
It's the busy season for refugee resettlement agencies in the Valley. Phoenix receives its largest influx of refugees in the summer, as the US State Department works to meet its quotas before the fiscal year ends in October. When families arrive, they're set up with the bare minimum of living standards - frequently placed in nearly empty apartments along Phoenix's I-17 corridor. This morning we'll meet one family and an organization trying to give those seeking asylum a warmer welcome to Arizona.

Here and Now - Air and Car Travel
In an effort to make up for the high cost of fuel, US Airways and other airlines are now charging for baggage. US Airways will soon start charging for sodas and juice on flights.
Here and Now
looked at the airline industry and the direction its headed. The program also looked at the impact high gas prices has on driving and why some are turning to other modes of transportation such as bikes, motorcycles, and buses.

Phoenix Seeks Input on Parks
Beginning this week, Phoenix Parks and Recreation department will be looking for input from the public on the direction on the city's parks and desert preserves over the next five years. City voters recently approved a thirty year extension of the one tenth of a cent sales tax that funds park improvements. Dennis Lambert asks parks and preserves administrator Cynthia Peters to discuss the hearings.
