New database: Theatre in Video
Theatre in Video contains more than 250 definitive performances of the world's leading plays, together with more than 100 film documentaries, online in streaming video - more than 500 hours in all. This first release contains over 50 titles, representing hundreds of leading playwrights, actors and directors. Included are landmark performances such as The Iceman Cometh, Hamlet, Othello, Awake and Sing, Long Day's Journey Into Night, Playboy of the Western World, and others. Notable actors include Gene Wilder, Laurence Olivier, Richard Dreyfuss, Walter Matthau, Meryl Streep, and more.

Periodicals Archive Online (PAO) provides access to international scholarly literature in the humanities and social sciences disciplines from 1802 to 1995. It is international in scope with the inclusion of more than 60 foreign-language titles.

New database: Classical Scores Library
Classical Scores Library contains 400,000 pages of classical music scores, manuscripts, and previously unpublished material, allowing for the study and analysis of more than 8,000 musical scores. Users can access multiple types of scores across various composers, genres, and time periods. It contains full scores, study scores, piano and vocal scores, as well as piano reductions. All opera, vocal, and choral texts are rekeyed to allow for deep searching and textual analysis.

New database: CAIRN
CAIRN is a collection of French language periodicals in the social sciences and humanities disciplines. The collection is currently comprised of over 150 titles from more than 40 publishers, teaching institutions and learned societies and is growing rapidly. The primary subject areas covered by the collection are history, psychology, economics, political science and sociology.

Improved Access for InterLibrary Loans - Pilot Project
On a trial basis this fiscal year (08-09), the TRU Library will waive the forty Interlibrary loan limit for faculty, staff and administration. The library will also remove the $1/item interlibrary loan fee charged to students.

Please note that interlibrary-loaned materials are not free to TRU; most lending libraries charge the TRU Library a handling fee. These transaction fees can range from $5 to $40 or more. The TRU Library will continue to pay these borrowing fees charged to us by other libraries, though we may deny or limit requests for items costing more than $25 each.

Our goal is to improve access and service, and to support study and research. We will monitor usage and costs, and assess this pilot project next Spring, 2009
