Play Podcast    #07 A Life Down Under - Dad re-telling his WW2 experiences Part 1
I was talking with my father and decided to record his war stories. He was conscripted into the army because they wouldn't let him volunteer (go figure). He was initially defending Melbourne as an anti-aircraft gunner and eventually went to New Guinea as a radar instructor. Dad is 83 (or 84) years old and he is still articulate as he re-tells the story. I was testing out my new e-bay sony stereo uni-directional microphone and I am very happy with it. All up this goes for about 33 mins. I think the file is a little bigger than it needs to be so I need to check my sampling rate.

Play Podcast    #06 A Life Down Under - on the Road back from Brisbane
This is a podcast from the car travelling back from Brisbane to Armidale. The Seafood shop in Warwick is closed and I am a bit sad about that. I rave on a bit about ANZAC day and Australia's involvement in Vietnam. A couple pass me in an old EK Ute with a just married sign on it. I am recording using my sony lapel microphone and it sounds a bit tinny. I used soundsoap to get rid of a lot of the car noise but it makes my voice a bit "off" (more "off" than normal in any case)

Play Podcast    #05 A Life Down Under - ANZAC Day Tamworth 2006
This is a video I made in Tamworth on ANZAC Day. I Travelled there for the day to get some footage of my father William (Bill) Teychenne marching in the local march. Dad served in the Artillery in World War 2 as a radar operator/instructor in New Guinea. Dad was offerred the opportunity to travel in one of the Jeeps but declined as he felt he was able to walk OK. He wants to march as long as his health holds out but next year it might be with a walking stick. There are similar marches and ceremonies in every (and I mean EVERY) town in Australia on ANZAC Day This year was particularly significant as the last World War 1 "digger" had died. ANZAC Day is a source of continual amazement to most Australians as it continues to be supported in ever increasing numbers by military and non-military alike. Regardless of what you think about war, that all gets forgotten on this one day when everyone puts aside their personal philosophies to join each other to honour those service men and women who died in Australia's conflicts.

Play Podcast    #04 A Life Down Under - Day 2 Great South West Walk
In the tent for day 2 things have been a bit tough today, there is a leech in the tent Jess didnÃïït like the straight roads because they were boring. I liked that we had had a tough day and we were still dry. The noise you hear is the rain on the tent. We talk a bit about camping in general. I want to do more bushwalking. when I am out bush I donÃïït feel like I should be someplace else. Talk a bit about DadÃïïs life. Growing up after his mum died and his responsibilities to the farm at the age of eight.

Play Podcast    #02 A Life Down Under - Tour of Keystone Studios
Keystone Studios - Allan Heeney and Lindsay Teychenne in Keystone Studio discussing all things to do with mixing and recording. I have known Allan For about 9 years but I donât see him all that often. Allan and his partner Jenny join Sandra and I every June long weeked (Queenâs Birthday I think) for a trip away somewhere. Last year we went to umm... (I forget - somewhere north of Newcastle -lovely spot- memorable name). Allan has a small recording studio at the back of his house and he creates CDs for friends and others who need a âcheapâ studio. Allan really is a lovely guy, real friend of all the world and is a talented musician in his own right belonging to one of Armidaleâs most popular bands Maxwell Street. He built his own studio so that he could record his own music and now it is available for others. Unfortunately, as life would have it, there is not a lot of money in owning a recording studio so he gets his income being a relief school teacher for around the area. I havenât seen him in action of course but I think he would be a great school teacher. I have asked him to put some of his music up on the podsafe music network. I seems keen, we just have to sort out a few things first.

Play Podcast    #01 A Life Down Under - Tamworth Australia Day
Australia Day Ceremony in Tamworth. Citizenship ceremony, Award of Citizen of the year, Young citizen of the year and Mitchell Brady Encouragement Award, Recorded on my iRiver. As I knew some people, it was a bit teary at times. There is some wonderful talent and people with committment to good works who ask for no money and it is really heartening. The Tamworth Mayor James Treloar gave a speech at the citizenship ceremony to say there is no waiting in queue, that now matter how recently you have become an Australian, you have the same entitlements as everone else.
